American Made 45 Watt Amplifier
Taking its inspiration from the classic 1963 Blonde Bassman, The ValveTrain Santa Monica captures all of the tonal magic the originals were famous for yet pushes the design into the future with our own voicing and top shelf parts.
The Santa Monica produces a strong 45 watts of all tube vintage goodness with it’s pair of 5881 power tubes. It’s front layout consist of Volume, Treble, Bass, Governor and Presence Controls.
The Governor is a output power management control originally designed by Dennis Kager. ValveTrain is pleased to bring this control back to the market through a special arrangement with Dennis. The Governor can be completely switched out of the circuit enabling the full output from the power amp. Power reduction via the Governor is variable. The further the Governor is advanced the more the power is reduced. Once activated the Governor can variably tame the smoking 45 watts of dual 5881 power down to an apartment friendly 2 watts.
With it’s modern take on blonde era cleans, The Santa Monica captures all of those classic wonderful clean tones but with an added clarity, depth and punch. Driving the amp harder will easily get you into hard rock territory. With more gain on tap than it’s Blonde inspiration a twist of the volume control will reveal a world of great overdriven tones.
At any volume, The Santa Monica truly feels alive under your fingertips. Dig in a bit and the notes are strong and punchy with just the right amount of edginess. Roll your volume back or play with a softer touch and the amp produces big, warm fat bell like clean tones.
